One person was killed and six others suffered injuries of varying seriousness in a car accident in Akure, the state capital, according to information released by the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Ondo State Command, yesterday.

According to reports, the incident took place yesterday about 4 a.m. close to the 32 Artillery Brigade Army barracks in Akure.
In a statement, the state sector commander of the FRSC, Ezekiel SonAllah, stated that a Toyota Sienna with the licence plate RBC 412 CU and a commercial vehicle with the licence plate MUS 932 XX were involved in an accident that was the result of overspeeding.

He clarified: “The deceased was a guy. Prior to our arrival, soldiers transported the injured victims to UNIMED in Ondo, while FRSC representatives transported the dead there.

Meanwhile, officers of the Fanibi Police Station have taken the vehicles to their office and the obstruction was cleared by FRSC officials.”

The FRSC commander, however, called on drivers and the public to ensure that their vehicles are in good condition before embarking on any journey, and also ensure that they obey traffic rules and regulations.
