The Joint Task Force (North East) under Operation HADIN KAI has foiled coordinated attacks by ISWAP terrorists in Goniri, Yobe State, killing over 20 insurgents. The attacks occurred on the night of March 9 and early hours of March 10, 2026, but troops responded swiftly and effectively repelled the assault.
The terrorists, who attacked from multiple directions, were detected through surveillance assets and met with superior firepower and tactical manoeuvre. Reinforcements were mobilised, and air support was provided, leading to the terrorists’ defeat. A senior terrorist commander, Abu Yusu, was among those killed.
Recovered items include machine guns, AK-47 rifles, IEDs, bombs, and ammunition. Troops injured in the encounter are receiving medical attention and are stable. The location remains under Operation HADIN KAI control, with follow-up operations ongoing in surrounding areas.
Operation HADIN KAI remains committed to defeating terrorism and restoring peace in the North-East region. The Military High Command commended the troops for their gallantry and urged them to sustain the operational tempo.
