Troops of the Joint Task Force Operation HADIN KAI under the 21 Special Armoured Brigade have successfully foiled an attempted attack by Boko Haram terrorists in the Kashimri general area of Bama Local Government, Borno State. The encounter, which occurred on 17th October 2025, ended with the destruction of several terrorist camps and the neutralization of many insurgents.

In a statement released by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, the troops’ swift and coordinated action thwarted plans by the terrorists to attack civilians and disrupt socio-economic activities in the area. The operation, however, came at a heavy cost as the Commanding Officer of the 202 Tank Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Saidu Paiko, and a few gallant soldiers paid the supreme price during the fierce exchange of fire.

The Nigerian Army has described their sacrifice as an enduring testament to courage and patriotism, pledging to honor their memory and sustain the fight against terrorism until peace and stability are fully restored in the region.

Lieutenant Colonel Anele further conveyed the condolences of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, to the families of the fallen officers and soldiers, assuring that their bravery will never be forgotten.

She also urged members of the public and media to refrain from sharing images of fallen personnel to respect the dignity of the deceased and the privacy of their families until official notifications are completed.
