Prior to the 2023 general elections, the Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got no fewer than 5000 defections from the incumbent All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to reports, the defectors were welcomed into the opposition camp on Sunday at Avrugo and a nearby ward in the state’s Igalamela/Odolu Local Government area.

The former vice chairman of Igalamela/Odolu Local Government, Hon. Collins Adama, who inspired other party members to defect to the PDP, confirmed the development and claimed the ruling party had failed miserably.

He urged the populace to turn out in large numbers to vote out terrible leadership in the general election of 2023. He claimed that any error made at this time would be the end of the country.

Tinubu Speaks On Withdrawing From Presidential Race
Presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday denied withdrawing from the 2023 presidential election.

The former Governor of Lagos State who shared a short video of himself on a treadmill, debunked rumours making the rounds that he is not contesting in the forthcoming race again.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) last Wednesday raised an embargo on the presidential campaign. Recall that Tinubu travelled out of the country a few days before the commencement of the 2023 presidential campaign.

There are speculations that Tinubu travelled out of Nigeria for medical reasons, speculation which has been denied by his loyalists.

A loyalist of the APC presidential candidate had claimed that Tinubu travelled out of the country to rest ahead of the camp season.

Tinubu in the video stated that some people have claimed that he has died, while others said he has withdrawn from the presidential race.
