In a bid to build stronger values among young people and curb the growing influence of social vices, the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) has partnered with the Force Education Unit to bring preventive advocacy and life skills programmes to police-owned schools.
National Coordinator of POCACOV, ACP Olabisi Okuwobi, led a delegation including ASP Joy Isioma Ejime-Irabie, ASP Odoh Fidelis and CPL Abimbola Diyolu to the Force Education Unit Headquarters in Dei-Dei, Abuja where the team was warmly welcomed by the Director of Education, ACP Ibidapo Oludare Olubiyi, alongside ACP Lateef Jaiyeola and CSP Mary J. Lano.
The meeting centered on how both units could work hand-in-hand to engage students early, instill discipline and promote civic responsibility. Among the ideas discussed were:
Setting up POCACOV School Clubs in police schools.
Integrating value reorientation content into school activities.
Running mentorship and life skills programmes for students.
Hosting joint awareness campaigns on cultism, drug abuse, bullying, cybercrime and other youth-related challenges.
In a show of mutual respect, the Force Education Unit presented a commemorative plaque to ACP Okuwobi, symbolizing their readiness to collaborate. The POCACOV team, in turn, offered goodwill gifts to the Unit.
Speaking at the event, ACP Okuwobi highlighted that POCACOV’s work aligns with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, whose focus is on proactive, people-centered policing. She emphasized that engaging students is key to shaping a safer future.
The Force Education Unit pledged full support for the initiative, stressing that early intervention through education is critical to raising responsible citizens. They welcomed the creation of POCACOV Clubs in their schools and expressed commitment to bringing the plans to life.
