The Rivers State Chapter of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) on Friday, 3rdOctober, 2025, carried its sensitization campaign to Community Secondary School, Rumuolumeni, Obio-Akpor LGA, warning students against the dangers of cultism and drug abuse.
With the theme Cultism, Drug Abuse and My Academics, the campaign was convened following rising concerns from the school community.
Representing the National Coordinator, ACP Olabisi Okuwobi, the Rivers State POCACOV Coordinator, ASP Ogbuewe Captain, cautioned students on the devastating impact of joining cult groups and indulging in drugs. He stressed that such vices threaten both academic success and future prospects.
Also speaking, Amb. Patrick Akatakpo and Engr. Chris Odorgbo outlined POCACOV’s mandate of advocacy and youth engagement, while Amb. Eke Onwuka, Chairman of Rivers State POCACOV, advised the school to promptly report cult-related incidents for swift intervention.
The school’s principal and teachers commended POCACOV for the visit, noting its importance in safeguarding students from negative influences.
