In a major grassroots initiative, the Nigeria Police Force, through its Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), held a community intervention outreach on 17th July, 2025, in Dape Community, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), FCT.
Led by DSP Adoh Nwakaego, POCACOV’s Head of Community Engagement, the outreach focused on educating youths about the dangers of cultism, drug abuse, and violence. Through personal interactions and open dialogue, DSP Nwakaego encouraged the youth to reject crime and shared practical pathways to positive change. Many young participants admitted feeling misled by negative influences and expressed a strong desire for economic and educational empowerment.
Community leaders, including Hassan Meji, Blessed Peter, and the Ahakim of Dape, supported the program and praised the Inspector General of Police and ACP Olabisi Okuwobi, POCACOV’s National Coordinator, for bringing such people-centered initiatives to the grassroots.
The community called for continued engagement, including vocational training, micro grants, and mentorship to help youths lead purposeful lives. The outreach reflected POCACOV’s commitment to proactive, community driven policing under its slogan, “It’s all about you.”
