The Delta State Police Command has made significant strides in combating crime, recovering six locally made firearms, four live cartridges, and various quantities of hard drugs, including cannabis, kolos, ice, and loud. The operations were carried out by the Raiders Squad and other units of the command, targeting suspected firearm fabricators and drug dealers.
In one operation, a suspected firearm fabricator, Friday Ojei, 59, was arrested at Emuhu Community in Ika South Local Government Area, with four locally fabricated guns and equipment used in firearm production recovered. In another operation, a combined patrol team recovered a locally made short gun along Film Hall Road, Ovwian-Aladja, after suspected hoodlums fled the scene.
A suspected drug dealer, Esther Etafo, 43, was also arrested at Oruworowh Road, Udu, with various quantities of hard drugs and ₦55,000 in cash recovered. The Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, commended the operatives involved and urged the public to continue supporting the police with credible information.
