As Nigeria continues to grapple with rising economic hardship and worsening insecurity, religious leader Primate Elijah Ayodele has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to place national interest above political ambition by prioritizing urgent economic reforms and security strategies.

Speaking during the launch of his annual prophetic book Warnings to the Nation, 2025 at INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church in Lagos, Primate Ayodele emphasized that the current economic challenges are biting hard on ordinary Nigerians, and unless decisive actions are taken, the situation may persist for the remainder of the administration’s tenure.

According to him, Nigerians are experiencing intense pressure from escalating food prices, currency devaluation, and widespread poverty. He noted that the cost of essentials such as rice and fish is becoming unbearable for average citizens, while the naira continues to struggle against foreign currencies, especially the dollar, due to both domestic mismanagement and external influences.

Ayodele stated that the economic hardship facing the country is not just a passing phase, rather it is rooted in poor decision-making and a lack of willpower to confront corruption at the highest levels.

He added that President Tinubu must act decisively and quickly if he truly wants to transform the fortunes of Nigerians.

In the area of security, Primate Ayodele warned of potential escalation in terrorist activities if the country’s leadership does not urgently restructure and reform its security apparatus. He suggested a change in leadership at the Nigeria Police Force and called for fresh intelligence and strategic oversight to combat the growing threats across the South-West, South-East, and Federal Capital Territory.

He cautioned that insecurity will deepen unless there’s a serious rethink. He said that a new terrorist group may emerge if things are not addressed properly. Abuja, Lagos, and other major cities would remain vulnerable unless reforms are made swiftly.

While delivering his message, Ayodele claimed that political coalitions heading into the 2027 elections would struggle and advised President Tinubu to be wary of internal sabotage within his camp. He also said governors from Enugu, Zamfara, and Adamawa could switch allegiance to the APC in the coming years.

Though the clergyman touched on global predictions including rising tensions between Iran and Israel, continued conflict in Ukraine, and challenges within NATO, he stressed that Nigeria’s leadership must focus internally to navigate the current storm.

Above all, Primate Ayodele urged President Tinubu to seek divine guidance and carefully vet those in his inner circle. He said that if President Tinubu wants a second term, it wouldn’t come through chance but rather earned through responsible governance, economic reforms, and restored security for all Nigerians.
