REUNION OF A LIFETIME FOR ILAMOYE GRAMMAR SCHOOL 1985 ALUMNI

As part of their ongoing 40th anniversary celebrations, the Ilamoye Grammar School Old Students Association, Pioneer 1985 Set, held a heartwarming Meet and Greet/Ice Breaker on Friday, November 28th 2025, at Dockers Bar, Naval Dockyard Limited, Victoria Island, Lagos.

What unfolded was a powerful reconnection of lives that had diverged for four decades.

The event drew alumni from across Nigeria and abroad, many of whom were meeting face-to-face for the first time since they left secondary school in 1985. The atmosphere at Dockers Bar was electric with nostalgia as excited recognitions, joyful tears and bursts of laughter filled the room as classmates reunited after years of distance, careers, families and life journeys.

For many, the night felt like stepping into a time capsule; one that brought back classroom pranks, assembly-ground memories, favourite teachers, teenage ambitions and long-lost friendships. The alumni shared stories of growth, setbacks, triumphs and the paths that led them back together after forty years.

The reunion also provided an opportunity for members based in the diaspora to reconnect with their roots and rekindle ties with classmates they had only kept up with through social media or alumni platforms. The evening flowed with music, conversations and heartfelt toasts to friendship, resilience and the enduring spirit of the Ilamoye family.

The Meet and Greet marked a major highlight of the 1985 Set’s anniversary calendar as a symbolic capping to the series of homecoming events, service projects and celebratory activities dedicated to honoring the school that shaped their earliest dreams.

For the Ilamoye Grammar School 1985 Alumni, this reunion was not just a gathering. It was a reminder that time may age faces, but it never diminishes the warmth of shared beginnings.
