SOKOTO: Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division and Commander Joint Task Force Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji, Brigadier General Ibikunle Ajose, said in a joint environment where coordination between Army, different services and agencies is important, the ability to effectively harness technology becomes critical.

Brigadier General Ajose stated this while declaring open a 5 days Operation Planning Cadre at the headquarters 8 Division Nigerian Army in Sokoto State.

He said the theme of the training “Leveraging New Technologies for Innovative Operations Planning Process by Commanders in a Joint Environment” recognizes the critical role that technology plays in modern military operations.

This he said, as commanders, it is essential that Army understand and leverage these technologies to enhance operational effectiveness and achieve mission success considering the dynamic nature of modern warfare.

“It is imperative to remember that the security environment is evolving rapidly. The challenges we face today are multidimensional, complex, and often transnational.

“As commanders, we must be able to synchronize our efforts, share intelligence and make informed decisions in real-time.

“This demands a new way of thinking and planning which embraces innovation and technological advancement.

“Whether it is countering insurgency, tackling terrorism or banditry, or maintaining internal security, the need for innovation and adaptability in our operations planning process cannot be overemphasized,” the Acting GOC said.

He added that the operation planning cadre is in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy which is to ” Transform the Nigerian Army into a Well-trained, Equipped and Highly Motivated Force Towards

Achieving Our Constitutional Responsibilities within a Joint

Environment”.

General Ajose noted that the planning cadre will provide an opportunity for the participants to deliberate and make meaningful contributions and come up with workable plans that will assist in addressing most operational and administrative challenges that are inimical to Nigerian Army operational engagements in various theatres.

“The Nigerian Army has always prided itself on its professionalism and commitment to the defense of our nation.

“However, to maintain our edge and stay ahead of potential adversaries, we must continuously evolve strategies and methodologies.

“This cadre provides us with an excellent opportunity to discuss and explore how new technologies such as artificial intelligence, drones, cyber capabilities and advanced surveillance systems can be integrated into our operations planning process.

” I urge the participants to seize this opportunity to refine our strategies, enhance our capabilities, and ensure that we are fully prepared to meet the challenges of the future within our Joint Operations”. he added.

The Acting GOC expressed his appreciation to Chief of Army Staff, Lit. General Taoreed Lagbaja, for his encouragement and support to the division and the entire head of security agencies in the state for their cooperation and understanding.
