The explosion of a gasoline truck that happened in Ogun State on Thursday left two people completely burned beyond recognition.

In the event that occurred at Sango-Ota Old Toll Gate Plaza, on the Lagos-Abeokuta road, it was learned that 12 automobiles were also completely destroyed by fire.

Three people suffered burn injuries as a result of the event, which happened in the morning, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

The tanker was mounting the Ilo Awele slope, next to the Abeokuta-Lagos portion of the road, when it fell around 1:30 am, spilt its contents, and burst into flames, according to Florence Okpe, an FRSC spokesperson in Ogun.

In order to prevent a second collision, the area was immediately blocked off and men from the fire department were called, according to Okpe.

She added that as at 4:05 in the morning, “a total of 12 vehicles were involved, which comprised three luxury buses, four tricycles, three motorcycles, one yellow bus and a tanker.”

Okpe explained further that, “A total of three persons were rescued to Ota General Hospital (two male adults and one female adult), seriously burnt.

“Two bodies burnt beyond recognition have been evacuated from the scene.

“The suspected cause of the multiple crash was mechanical deficiency. While ascending, the vehicle rolled back and got hooked. The content spilled off and there was fire outbreak.”
