A new era has begun for the Ugwuoba Development Union (UDU) as High Chief Alexandria Chukwudinma Nwokedi, popularly known as Ejimatu N’ Ugwuoba, has been elected as the new National President, alongside his National Vice President, Chief Ananyo Enukaorah (Anino N’ Ugwuoba) for the next four years. Other elected national officers include Pastor Uche Chukwuemeka Ernest as National Secretary, Ugochukwu Omah as Deputy National Secretary, Dr. Paul Onwuka as National Treasurer, Hon. Maduka Vitus as National Financial Secretary, and Chukwuemeka Onwukwe as National Publicity Secretary.

The new leadership has pledged to build on the achievements of its predecessors, High Chief Osita A N Omah emphasizing that “work has just begun” and calling for individual and village support to drive progress in Ugwuoba.

The outgoing leadership, led by High Chief Osita A. N. Omah, was commended for its dedication to human capital, social and community development. Plaudits came particularly for its speedy facilitation of work on the Okpuno-uno Civic Hall and Centre, along Egbeagu village, in Ugwuoba.

The National President’s farewell address, themed “Lightening the Way for Future Digital Leaders,” sparked widespread thanksgiving and praise from well-meaning personalities in the community.

RT Hon. Johnny Obidinma, former Majority Leader of ENSHA, expressed gratitude for the outgoing leadership’s resilience in achieving infrastructural development. Igwe C. A. Anochili, the Ogbuagu I of Ogbuagu community, and HRH Sylvanus Ibeh, the Chinyelugo I of Agulu community, also praised the outgoing executives for their dedication to community development.

Igwe Ozo Joseph Nwafor Gbuyee hailed the outgoing leadership for maintaining peace and unity among the people of Ugwuoba. HRM Igwe Lawrence Chukwuemeka Obi highlighted the outgoing leadership’s strong interface with political elites and external relationships with neighbouring communities.

The National Secretary, Pastor Uche Chukwuemeka Ernest and National Vice President, Ozo Michael Atubar, were singled out for efforts towards raising the bar of the annual New Yam Festival (Otute Ugwuo). Also, the immediate past Executive leader, Ozo Josephat Uba, received mention for pioneering work on the civic hall and centre.

The outgoing leadership was also praised for its involvement of the 17 village chairmen in achieving positive development in their respective villages. Prince Clem Onuh described the outgoing leaders as exemplary models worthy of emulation, noting that their contributions to community development are invaluable.
