Chief Whip of the Senate SENATOR Orji Uzor Kalu says there is nothing wrong if the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Ahmed Tinubu, runs a Muslim-Muslim ticket

The matter has been on the front burner of public discussions as Nigerians have expressed diverse views.

Senator Kalu while speaking to Senate Correspondents before the commencement of Wednesday’s Plenary’s said it would be politically naive for Tinubu, a minority Muslim from the South-West, to choose a minority Christian from the North as his running mate.

He insisted that since Tinubu’s wife is a senior pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), she will balance the ticket as a ‘de facto deputy president’ should Tinubu win the presidency.

The Abia North Senator said elections are about numbers and not the faith of candidates.

While the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has rejected the idea and warned parties against it, some stakeholders have asked Nigerians to focus more on competence than sentiment.
