Governor Nyesom Wike has stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) cannot function without him if it is to gain widespread support in Rivers State.
Wike stated this on Friday during a media conference in Port Harcour, insisting that the PDP cannot claim to be pulling its weight in Rivers State unless he plays his role as a governor beloved by his people.
“You don’t need me.” “I agree, but saying you’ll do without me in this state (Rivers) is impossible,” Wike declared.
The governor also stated that it is unfortunate that those who are pulling the strings of discord in the PDP are those who rarely bring anything to the table.

Wike’s comments are not unconnected with the push to remove the PDP National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu. A cause which the Rivers State governor says became imperative, seeing that no southerner occupies any of the top three positions in the PDP. Details shortly.
