The Presidency has refuted claims made by one of the All Progressives Congress (APC) factions in Kano State that they have received President Muhammadu Buhari’s endorsement.
This was stated in a statement released on Saturday by the President’s Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, who stated that Buhari had not endorsed any faction and that the statement was blatantly false.
The claims were labeled as “blatantly false” by Shehu. This is impossible to do while cases are pending in the courts.
“To be clear, President Buhari has not endorsed any political party.”
“His support is for the APC as a whole, united and strong, not for any particular faction.”

The leadership of the APC faction in Kano loyal to Gov. Ganduje has been sacked, and the executives of former Governor of the state, Ibrahim Shekarau, have been declared duly elected leaders of the party in the state by an Abuja High Court.
In Kano, the APC is divided into two factions: one loyal to the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, and the other loyal to a senator, Ibrahim Shekarau.
After the October 18 parallel congresses, which produced two sets of executives loyal to the two leaders, the crisis devolved into a legal squabble.
Haruna Danzago was elected chairman by Mr Shekarau’s faction, while Abdullahi Abbas was elected by Mr Ganduje’s faction.
