Amaka Ogonachukwu, 22, was arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for allegedly attempting to smuggle wraps of cocaine concealed in cooked white rice to her boyfriend, Monday Imagbebenikaro (40), who is now in the custody of the agency’s Edo State Command.

In a statement released on Sunday, the agency’s spokesman, Femi Babafemi, said Imagbebenikaro was previously arrested on Airport Road in Benin City for dealing in crack cocaine, cannabis sativa, and Danabel (Anabolic steroids).

In major raids in Lagos State, the agency said it seized 8,381,600 Tramadol capsules and 56,782 bottles of codeine.

The seizures, according to Babafemi, were made after a sustained surveillance operation on some targets in the Lagos neighborhoods of Satellite Town and Alaba Rago in the run-up to Christmas.

On Thursday, he said, the Satellite Town target was raided. During the operation, Ezekiel Ibe, an alleged drug lord, was apprehended.

His warehouse yielded over five tons of high milligram Tramadol (225mg and 100mg).
According to Babafemi, the seized drug consists of 7,991,600 Tramadol tablets and 390,000 Tramadol capsules weighing 5,468.894 kilograms.
