LAGOS — The Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos Sector Command, says motorists should expect slow vehicular movement on the outward section of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway at Kara Bridge. The slowdown is due to ongoing reconstruction work on the bridge’s expansion joints. FRSC officials and other traffic agencies are deployed at the site to manage traffic flow and prevent motorists from driving against traffic.
To ease congestion, the Corps has advised alternative routes. Those traveling to Ijebu-Ode and beyond can use the Lekki–Epe Expressway. Motorists heading to Sagamu should take the Ikorodu–Sagamu Road, while those going to Abeokuta can use the Abule-Egba/Abeokuta Expressway. For drivers coming from Third Mainland Bridge, Ketu and Ikorodu Road, the Corps recommends CMD Road through Jubilee Estate by Otedola Bridge, exiting at Isheri-Olowora Junction to rejoin the expressway at New Garage. Road users from Omole and Ogunnusi Road can go through River Valley Roundabout, connect via Limpson Road, and make a U-turn under Kara Bridge to continue on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
Lagos Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde Ganiyu Hamzat, appealed to motorists to be patient, follow instructions from traffic managers, and factor in extra travel time. He also warned against lane indiscipline, one-way driving, speeding and other dangerous habits. The FRSC thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation while the reconstruction at Kara Bridge is ongoing.
