Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the early arrival and commencement of the Governorship and House of Assembly Elections on Saturday describing the process as seamless.
The Deputy Governor, who arrived at his Polling Unit-002, Ward A4, Oke Balogun, Epe around 9:40 am in the company of his wife, Remi, and voted by 9:43 a.m, said that the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) must be given credit for a better election process.
Hamzat said, “here, everyone is voting, it took me probably 10 seconds for BVAS to accredit me, voting started earlier here than 3 weeks ago, I think it is a bit better than that of the last election”
Dr. Hamzat complimented the INEC Officials in his polling unit for commencing the voting process early at 8:30 am and further expressed his satisfaction with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
He stated that “in my polling unit, the process is seamless and the turn-out is better and everything seems to be fine, it’s calm, everything I have heard so far from other units seems better as of this morning but I will find out later in the day”.
In her remarks, the Wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat expressed satisfaction with the voting process as it is seamless saying that “they are doing a fantastic job, they are here on time, the BVAS and everything is okay, the process is seamless.
Similarly, the former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji stated that the election is going on smoothly and expressed happiness with the turnout of voters and the entire process.
Speaking further, Hon. Kuforiji stated that a lot of improvements have been seen over the last election and it was observed that the people came out to vote in large numbers adding that “ I think people feel the need to come out for whatever reason known, we have more people that come to vote than we had three weeks ago”
