The Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has stated that the Service facilitated N136 trillion worth of export cargos in 2024, rising by 30.2 percent.
Goods totaling at a value of 57.89 billion U.S. dollars, about N95 trillion, were exported from Nigeria.
Speaking at an event to mark the International Customs Day celebration, held in Abuja on Monday, the CGC said the volume of import in the period under review stood at N60 trillion.
The 2025 International Customs Day celebration is with the theme: ‘Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security and Prosperity’.
“The Service demonstrated exceptional fiscal performance in 2024, collecting N6.1 trillion in revenue which exceeded targets by 20.2% and represented a dramatic 90.4% year-over-year increase. Our trade facilitation efforts were equally impressive, managing imports valued at N60.29 trillion and exports of ₦136.65 trillion.
“Also, the service strategically provided N1.68 trillion in concessions to boost economic growth and industrial development across various sectors. These achievements are the highlights of our contribution to national prosperity through both revenue generation and trade facilitation” he stated.
Speaking further, he said: “The focus is on transformative initiatives that will revolutionise trade facilitation and enforcement which include the nationwide trade modernisation deployment, comprehensive AEO programme implementation, enhanced technology-driven risk management, and the ground-breaking establishment of the Nigeria Customs Service University for Trade and Technology.”
