The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, on 20 October 2026, received the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Abeokuta Branch, Chief Kayode Aderemi, and members of the Executive Committee at the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, in a move to strengthen professional collaboration and promote a more accountable criminal justice system.
During the visit, Aderemi commended Ojajuni’s leadership and raised concerns over judgment enforcement, alleged extortion and remand proceedings. Ojajuni described Police and Bar as indispensable partners, noting constructive engagement promotes growth when guided by professionalism and rule of law. He stressed the need for proper verification of court judgments and strict compliance with laws on remand, while reaffirming zero-tolerance for extortion, urging reports through the X-Squad and Complaint Response Unit (CRU).
To sustain dialogue, the CP announced a joint follow-up committee of the Command and NBA Abeokuta Branch to resolve professional disagreements before escalation. He reaffirmed commitment to professionalism, fundamental rights and public confidence, cautioning against frivolous petitions that criminalise civil disputes.
