Our attention has been drawn to a recent online article titled: “Senator Nwoko’s Two-Year Record of Achievements for Delta North Outshines Nwaoboshi’s Eight-Year Tenure, by Ogele Abednego. It’s indeed laughable to hear that Senator Ned Nwoko Two-Year in senate for Delta North Outshines Nwaoboshi’s Eight-Year as a senator. However, one question which begs for answer is – must we always throw away the baby and the bath water, must we sacrifice the standout man focused in ensuring that the Anioma is not used for individual’s whims and caprices because of power play and paid falsehood, must we always ruin the nice guy who has plan for a better tomorrow of Anioma Nation?.
It’s clear that Nwaoboshi is a champion of good representative, even when he was the Delta state party Chairman of PDP he fought for the first Anioma Governor and it came to pass, so his legacies will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on Anioma nation and its people. It’s clear that Senator Nwoko’s journey to the senate is marred by misinformation and social media propaganda. Senator Ned Nwoko is an Abuja politician who rode on the coattails of Senator Okowa and Governor Oborevwori to become a senator. Unlike Senator Peter Nwaoboshi who is a grassroots politician with visionary leadership who knows what it takes to represent his people at the red chambers.
Anioma nation witnessed significant advancements in infrastructure development, education, healthcare, and economic growth during his sojourn as a senator.
The Ibusa born political tactician brought to the fore glamour and extraordinary representation in less than one year in office after beginning his improbable quest as a first timer within the minority party, he became Chairman Senate Committee on Niger – Delta Affairs, Including the NDDC, the first minority barrier breaking achievement believed to be impossible by generation of minorities in Nigeria.
There is no doubt whatsoever that in the last seven years of his active representation as a senator of Federal Republic of Nigeria before he was illegally incarcerated, Anioma Nation have come to embrace and admire Senator Nwaoboshi’s tactical audacity, strategic acumen and the sure-footed administrative astuteness which sets him apart as a visionary leader, Senator Nwaoboshi can never be compared to the present senator Ned Nwoko or the past senators in all ramifications if not for his incarceration which gave his opponent a free running day, Senator Ned Nwoko wouldn’t have defeated Senator Nwaoboshi in an open election because of his countless achievements as senator.
it’s also on record that no Anioma Senator has ever broken the record of chairing any juicy Senate Committee as a first timer, it is only the Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi a man with robust political experience and wide range of political influence. A man who spread dividends of democracy to the nook and crannies of Delta North within one year in office, Anioma Nation never knew that a serving senator can attract over 140 roads network across Delta North, distribution of 100 Transformers, installation of thousands of solar street lights, supply of over 100,000 chairs and tables to primary and Secondary schools in Delta North, renovation of schools, building of skills acquisition centers, empowerment of women and youths, training of Anioma Youth through NDDC, Scholarships, employment of youths into various Government parastatals etc.
He fought and included Ndokwa Nation into Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) master plan and also included Ndokwa Youths into Nigeria Presidential Amnesty Programmes which alot of young people in Ndokwa Nation even in the whole of Delta North Senatorial District have benefited both in Education, Health, Agriculture sectors and Oil Companies Treaties till tomorrow. He also Sponsored the Bill for Act to repeal NDDC act, same Bill was Passed by the National Assembly and Assented to or rather signed into Law by the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, can Senator Ned Nwoko mention one of his numerous bills that was passed and signed into law by Mr President?.
when he ascended as the member representing Delta North Senatorial District in the Senate Arm of the National Assembly, as a first timer he became the Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, because he is the Anioma’s Democratic ship and he used the senate as vehicle to drive social and economic change in Delta North (Anioma) undermining the vehement hostility against him as a member of the opposition party at federal level.
However, Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi did not renege on his primary duty as a Senator and continued to discharge his duties with a sense of purpose and efficiency. Many leaders have not shown a greater sense of emotional intelligence, empathy and responsiveness to the needs of Deltans like (Senator Nwaoboshi)our Anioma Political Warrior, A Go-Getter and a result Oriented Senator.
Besides these legislative efforts and accomplishments, it is on record that he has, in an unprecedented manner attracted unequaled massive projects to the Delta North Senatorial District.
Critics in their attempt to lower the influence of the Nwaoboshi Factor have deposed insensitively that these achievements came only because of his privileged position as the chairman of the Senate committee for Niger Delta Affairs. They point to the huge resources of the NDDC as an added impetus for his performance. Absurdly, this position denies the Nwaoboshi Factor to these events. The questions to ask and congruously pertinent is, how is it that the ruling party ceded such a feasible and viable office to Nwaoboshi coming from an opposition party, if not for his delirious personae? That Nwaoboshi knows his onions is not at all in doubt because from the start of his political career, he has shown remarkably that he towers in the realm of the spiritual.
In the 9th Senate, Senator Nwaoboshi proposed bill for the creation of Anioma State when he was representing Delta North,it passed through the first and second reading and was referred to the committee on State creation. Eminent Anioma leaders were carried along and they appeared before the committee and defended the request, and it was one of the states shortlisted, the records are there for check.Every Nigerian knows that state creation is a constitutional matter, Senator Nwaoboshi is not a social media representative and does not make unnecessary noise about his achievements.
Senator Nwaoboshi does not spread falsehoods about projects or numbers of bills presented without non seeing the light of the day or claiming federal government projects. Senator Nwoko should focus on lobbying the Federal Government to complete abandoned projects in Delta State rather than adding them to his list of his achievement as Anioma senator. I read the part where Senator Nwoko cited one of his reasons for his defection to the APC was because of Governor Oborevwori’s refusal to fund the Okpai Independent Power Plant (IPP) project and did not support him for the creation of Anioma State, I laughed because that was 100% lie.
The Okpai IPP, which began in 2002 and was completed in 2005, falls under federal jurisdiction. The project was designed to generate power for the national grid, and any issues related to its distribution are the responsibility of the Federal Government. The IPP project Senator Nwoko is using to play politics is not a state-owned project but a federal government project awarded by them. How can State government fund a project already awarded by the federal government is not possible, and Senator Nwoko, being an enlightened politician and lawmaker, should know this better because Anioma people are wiser now.
Senator Nwoko ought to be urging the Federal Government to accelerate the completion of the project using his influence at the Senate instead of spreading lies against the governor. His colleagues at the Senate are using their connections to attract federal projects, but Senator Nwoko is busy spreading falsehoods against the governor. This is quite deceitful because he knows the truth, yet he wants the gullible in our society to see him as a saint and the governor as the devil.
Regarding the Ogwashi-Uku dam, on April 8, 2024, Senator Nwoko announced that the Federal Government would formally hand over the Ogwashi-Uku dam to the Delta State government. My question is, has Senator Nwoko forgotten that he made this statement while hosting women from the nine local governments of Delta North at his Idumuje Ugboko country home, Aniocha North Local Government Area of the State? Why is he now blaming Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the Ogwashi-Uku dam’s inactivity when the federal government has not handed over the dam to the state government?
The project is obviously a federal government project, and as a senator, I expected Senator Nwoko to be proactive and lobby others to ensure that federal government projects in Delta State are completed. It’s an act of wickedness to lie against the state governor in a bid to manipulate his gullible followers. Senator Nwoko should think of better lies. I don’t want to talk about the mirage project of Asaba-Oko-Aboh road which will run through to Patani. Senator Ned Nwoko revealed that the road has been injected into the 2025 project of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). This road, according to him, will cost not less than N28bn, why is he counting his chickens before they’re hatched. He would have waited for the project to commence and completed before adding it to his achievements.
As it stands today in Anioma Nation, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi is the official mascot of Anioma identity, history, traditional norms and values. He is fearless, courageous, pragmatic, articulate and very outspoken advocacy in the legitimate quest for constitutional clarity over contentious issues, which he has displayed with competent authority, makes his leadership model iconic and he has been their voice and will continue to stands for Anioma people when they are seemingly oppressed.
Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi, the Dynamic Leader, the Oracle turned Miracle of Delta Politics, the Ide of Okpanam Land, Oshimili Lieonye Olie Ogwuaa of Akwukwu Igbo Kingdom and the Ochiaya of Anioma Nation is the Anioma’s Democratic ship and he used the senate as vehicle to drive social and economic change in Delta North (Anioma)when he was representing Anioma undermining the vehement hostility against him as a member of the opposition party at federal level.
Besides these legislative efforts and accomplishments, it is on record that he has, in an unprecedented manner attracted unequaled massive projects to the Delta North Senatorial District.
Anioma people have every reason to be proud of Nwaoboshi – A true son of Anioma, an illustrious son whose political influence has brought multiplying gains to us, evidenced by the several projects in infrastructure either attracted or personally provided by the Senator. In human capital development, the Senator has, and is still empowering both youths and women in various trades and businesses to make them self-reliant. Many more are also now on his payroll, sole effort of the Senator to alleviate the sufferings of his people.
All the nooks and crannies of Delta North are witness to the Nwaoboshi factor in the distribution of social infrastructure that once eluded the region as stakeholders in the NDDC and he does not build castle in the air.
Deltans-Anioma Nation now knows better that Most Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi is the best Senator ever to represent Delta North at the upper chambers. His kindness and willingness to reach out to Aniomas people is one reputation that will continue to precede him. Nwaoboshi has performed beyond doubt and above all past and present Senators who have represented Delta North in the Senate and this is unquestionable,Senator Nwaoboshi who continues to stand tall and will continue to do so for a very long time.
Well, Distinguished Senator Peter Nwaoboshi has made his point clearly in the following words: “As a a two term Senator who represented Delta North Senatorial District (2015–2023) and a committed leader in the APC,He strongly condemn Nwoko’s attempt to judge his achievement rather he should be more focused to show the Anioma people his report card after four years and not by counting the number of bills that did not see the light of the day. As the saying goes, a word is enough for the wise. Those who have ears to hear, let them hear.
