The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 2 Headquarters, Lagos, AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, has denied supervising any demolition in Lekki, describing the N1bn demolition claim by one Akeem Osuolale Ogunseye as baseless and mischievous.

The Command stated that it received a petition from C.O. Toyin Pinheiro SAN on behalf of Skyview Properties Limited, which holds title to Plot 37, Block 77, Lekki Peninsula Scheme 1 under a Deed registered as No.37 Page 37 Vol.2491 and a subsisting judgment of Justice K.A. Jose delivered on June 30, 2025 in LD/1006CMW/2015. Skyview alleged that on October 17, 2026, Ogunseye invaded the site with thugs bearing machetes, daggers, dane guns and charms, inflicted grievous injuries on engineers and workmen, destroyed ongoing work and chained the gate without any court order.

The Zone stressed that AIG Jimoh neither visited the site nor deployed operatives, and that no police team was seen there. It said Ogunseye, who is not a party to the suit and holds no title, is claiming ownership through Samuel Alao Ajibode – the defendant who lost in court and was ordered to pay N10m damages – and is therefore a notorious land grabber attempting to forcefully dispossess the lawful owner. The Police urged the media to verify reports before publication and reaffirmed commitment to rule of law and prevention of breakdown of law and order.
