The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) has commended Nigerian pharmaceutical manufacturers for their commitment to producing quality medicines and strengthening the healthcare sector despite economic challenges.
This recognition comes ahead of ACPN’s 44th Annual International Conference, taking place from July 22 to 27, 2025, in Awka, Anambra State. Themed “Technology Integration, Personalized Care: The Future of Community Pharmacy Practice,” the event will spotlight the adoption of digital tools like AI, telepharmacy, and electronic health records to modernize pharmacy practice.
ACPN is calling for targeted government incentives to support local drug production, reduce dependence on imports, and create jobs. It also urged the country to maximize its participation in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) by positioning itself as a pharmaceutical hub.
The conference will host over 3,000 participants and feature a walk against counterfeit drugs, technical sessions, innovation showcases, and cultural activities. ACPN will also renew calls for reforming outdated drug safety laws to better protect public health.
