The Kano State Police Command today played host to a key stakeholder engagement meeting of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), aimed at deepening community-driven crime prevention efforts in the state.
The meeting, held on the 11th of August, 2025, was led by DSP Adoh Nwakaego, Head of Community Engagement at POCACOV National Headquarters, who represented the National Coordinator, ACP Olabisi Okuwobi.
Gathering around the table were the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa; Acting Chairman of POCACOV Kano, Nura Abdullahi; Acting Vice Chairman, Bello Abdullahi; State Secretary, Nura Ishaq Ibrahim; Public Relations Officer, Nazir Garba Ayagi; and 13 other committed members, comprising of two women and eleven men, all dedicated to building safer communities.
DSP Nwakaego praised the team’s dedication and urged stronger partnerships between the police, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups and civil society. She stressed the need for united action to tackle cultism, drug abuse, gender-based violence and other social vices.
SP Kiyawa reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering support, pledging to provide every necessary resource and backing to ensure POCACOV’s success in Kano.
The meeting ended with renewed energy and a shared resolve to roll out impactful programmes that will help make Kano State safer and fully aligned with the Inspector-General of Police’s vision for a more secure Nigeria.
