The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB) has approved the appointment of four Deputy Comptroller-Generals (DCGs), twelve Assistant Comptroller-Generals (ACGs) and the promotion of over 3,000 senior officers, in a move aimed at strengthening leadership within the Service.
Among the new appointees is Dera Nnadi (mni), who now assumes the rank of Deputy Comptroller-General, representing the South-East. His elevation is part of the decisions reached at the Board’s 63rd regular meeting held on Tuesday, 2nd September 2025, chaired by the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun.
Nnadi’s promotion marks a significant milestone in a career defined by professionalism, dedication and reform-minded leadership. Known for his commitment to operational efficiency and adherence to modern customs practices, he has been instrumental in driving policies that balance trade facilitation with revenue generation.
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi (MFR), congratulated Nnadi and other newly appointed officers, urging them to justify the confidence reposed in them by the Service and the Federal Government.
The appointments and promotions were carried out in line with the Federal Character Policy as provided in Section 14(4) of the Nigeria Customs Service Act, 2023, ensuring equitable representation across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
With this elevation, Dera Nnadi is expected to bring his wealth of experience to the top management of the Service, contributing to ongoing reforms aimed at improving customs operations, revenue mobilization and national economic growth.
