Oluwadamilare Sonayon Adebowale Bashir has launched a solar empowerment training programme aimed at creating sustainable job opportunities for 100 youths in Ikeja, Lagos. The programme focuses on equipping young people between 18 and 40 with practical skills in renewable energy, addressing youth unemployment and unreliable power supply.
The training will be implemented in batches, with the first 20 trainees commencing in March. Bashir emphasized that the initiative is a long-term intervention, enabling participants to secure employment, establish small businesses, and contribute to the local economy.
The programme aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s emphasis on enterprise, innovation, and inclusive economic growth. Bashir commended Seyi Tinubu and Tayo Ayinde, Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, for their support in community development.
This initiative showcases a structured empowerment model, building capacity, restoring dignity of labour, and positioning Ikeja youths for success in the evolving energy economy.
