Comrade Damilare Adebowale Bashir has concluded a week-long skills acquisition and empowerment programme for youths in Ward F, Alausa, with participants receiving certificates after training in solar installation and repairs. The programme, which ran from Tuesday to Saturday, drew a strong turnout of young people eager to gain practical skills in renewable energy. Participants were trained on the fundamentals of solar technology, including installation techniques, maintenance procedures, and basic troubleshooting.
At the closing session, Comrade Damilare Bashir, who is contesting to represent Ikeja Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and presented certificates to the beneficiaries and commended their commitment throughout the training. He urged them to apply the knowledge gained to improve their economic prospects, noting that technical skills remain a viable pathway to self-reliance, especially in the growing solar energy sector. Bashir also called on the youths to stay engaged in civic duties by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of forthcoming elections, stressing that youth participation is essential to shaping policies that affect their future.
Organizers said the programme is expected to create a lasting impact by building a pool of trained individuals capable of offering solar-related services while encouraging entrepreneurship and grassroots development.
Participants described the initiative as timely and impactful, saying the practical knowledge and certification would boost their chances of securing jobs or starting small businesses. Many commended Bashir for the opportunity and called for similar programmes to be sustained and expanded to reach more youths.
He further appealed to public office holders to prioritize youth empowerment, emphasizing that sustained investment in skills development is critical to tackling unemployment.
