The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, received the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council’s Crime Fighter of the Year Award at a ceremony in Abuja. The award, presented by former House of Representatives Minority Leader Ndudi Elumelu, recognizes Jimoh’s contributions to policing, crime prevention, and public safety in Nigeria. The event also honoured other notable figures including Leadership Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Azu Ishiekwene, Dele Alake, and former NUJ President Christopher Isiguzo.
Jimoh’s recognition comes amid widespread commendation for his operational leadership, strategic policing, and role in advancing intelligence-led policing and institutional reforms. With over two decades in the Nigeria Police Force since enlisting on 1 May 2000, he has served in key roles including FCT Police PRO, Force PRO, DCP at the Airport Police Command, and DCP Finance and Administration in Oyo State. He also participated in African Union peacekeeping operations in Sudan, earning commendations for his work in Darfur.
Born on 10 August 1971 in Ilorin, Kwara State, Jimoh holds a BSc in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University and has undergone specialised training in South Korea, China, and Nigeria on crime prevention, leadership, and law enforcement management. Before becoming AIG, he served as Commissioner of Police for the Ports Authority Police Eastern Ports Command and later for Lagos State Command. A fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and other professional bodies, he has received multiple awards for public relations and operational excellence.
