A delegation from India’s National Defence College, New Delhi, on a Geo-Strategic Study Tour visited Headquarters 81 Division Nigerian Army, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Thursday, June 4, 2026. General Officer Commanding Major General Adebayo Babalola welcomed the team and described the visit as proof of the strong defence ties between Nigeria and India. He acknowledged India’s longstanding support in military training, professional development, and institutional capacity building, and expressed optimism for deeper collaboration on modern security challenges.
The team, led by Senior Directing Staff Mrs. Anvita Sinha, said the tour was to understand 81 Division’s structure, roles, and operational mandate. She noted the division’s responsibility for protecting critical national assets, maintaining security in Lagos and Ogun States, and supporting internal security operations. Mrs. Sinha also highlighted defence cooperation as a key pillar of Nigeria-India relations.
The 14-member delegation, which includes senior military and civil service officers from Egypt, Morocco, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Uzbekistan, received a comprehensive briefing and engaged in an interactive session on 81 Division’s organisation and activities. The visit ended with an exchange of souvenirs and group photographs.
