NDLEA has intensified its nationwide crackdown, intercepting massive opioid consignments and arresting traffickers across six states. In Taraba, operatives acting on intelligence stopped a truck loaded with building materials at Nukkai Timber Shade, Jalingo on June 6, 2026. They recovered 320,840 tramadol capsules, 600 pentazocine ampoules, 4,500 rohypnol pills, and 299 bottles of codeine syrup hidden under the cargo, and arrested 22-year-old driver Buhari Abdullahi.
The agency also arrested 75-year-old Okebe Samuel in Okposi, Ebonyi, with 300 grams of skunk packaged in retail sachets for local youths. In Edo, a Benin City sweep netted three female dealers – Chioma Igba, 24, Precious Ozomah, 22, and Anita Abraham, 21 – plus one male, Henry Okey, 43, with skunk, Loud, Scottish Loud, Colorado, Swinol, and methamphetamine. Other arrests included Chioma Okeke, 32, with 8kg of skunk in Imo; 19-year-old Saifullahi Lawan with 38kg of skunk in Kano; and Ugwu Sabastine Ifebuchi, 28, with 15,000 tramadol capsules in Gombe.
NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa praised the resilience of officers in Taraba, Ebonyi, Imo, Edo, Kano, and Gombe, and commended commands nationwide for balancing supply reduction with demand reduction through WADA sensitization in schools across Oyo, Lagos, Anambra, and Kano. He reaffirmed that the agency will keep dismantling drug supply chains and pursue traffickers regardless of age, gender, or how drugs are concealed.
