The Nigeria Silent Heroes Awards Initiative has praised Air Vice Marshal Mikail Abdulraheem, Chairman of the Military Pensions Board, for his transformative leadership and dedication to retired military personnel’s welfare. Convener and Founder Mr. Odita Sunday led a team on a courtesy visit to invite the MPB chairman to the 8th edition of the awards holding June 27 in Abuja. Odita said Abdulraheem’s reforms have improved the pensions system and delivered real impact for military retirees, making his service worthy of recognition.
Responding, Abdulraheem thanked the organizers and said leadership should be measured by positive impact on people’s lives, not personal gain. He urged leaders to build strong institutions, create opportunities, and deliver services that benefit society, adding that celebrating selfless service promotes integrity, accountability, and national development. He also stressed the need to highlight exemplary leaders and mentors to inspire younger Nigerians and deepen the culture of service.
The ceremony, themed “Invisible Lights, Illuminating Lives,” will celebrate individuals making significant but often unnoticed contributions to national development and community service. Senior MPB officers at the meeting included the Director of Air Force Pensions, Director of Finance and Accounts, Acting Deputy Director of Army Pension Scheme, Assistant Director of Computer Department, and other top officials.
