St. Peter’s Blessed Primary School, Orile-Agege, Lagos, has received a newly renovated ICT laboratory and upgraded sanitation facilities under the Chief of the Naval Staff Special Intervention Quick Impact Project. The commissioning and handover ceremony Thursday brought together senior naval officers, government officials, community leaders, teachers, pupils, and residents to mark the completion of the three-month project aimed at boosting digital learning and civil-military relations.
Representing the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, Rear Admiral PE Meteke said the intervention aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and reflects the Navy’s commitment to national development beyond security duties. The project, facilitated by Rear Admiral Olusegun Soyemi who attended the school from 1976 to 1982, delivered a fully equipped ICT centre with 15 desktop computers, air-conditioning units, 4.3kW solar inverter, computer desks, chairs, and internet connectivity. The intervention also included new staff toilets, renovated student toilets, and a borehole with overhead water storage to improve sanitation.
Rear Admiral Meteke commended Rear Admiral Soyemi’s vision and thanked the Lagos State Government and Orile-Agege community for support. Soyemi said the project was personal and a tribute to his late mother who taught at the school. Orile-Agege LCDA Chairman, Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu, represented by Hon. Wale Fayemi, praised the Navy’s grassroots impact, while Head Teacher, Folashade Aderonke Oke described the facilities as a transformative milestone that will motivate pupils and staff.
