The Ogun State Police Command has intensified preventive policing with the contravention of 89 vehicles and their drivers for operating without registration plates or with covered, altered, and obscured plates. The operation was carried out in line with the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu’s nationwide directive, under the supervision of CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR. Offenders are facing administrative and legal actions, including prosecution where applicable. The Command also recovered one stolen vehicle, two stolen motorcycles, and other exhibits during the week, stressing that the enforcement drive is designed to improve vehicle traceability, aid investigations, and deny criminals anonymity. The exercise will be sustained across the state.
In two separate operations, police foiled armed robbery attacks and made arrests. On July 3, 2026, operatives of Ogere Division, in collaboration with So-Safe Corps, vigilantes, and community members, responded to a robbery at Akuro Phase I, Ogere Remo. The hoodlums had carted away two motorcycles, phones, cash, and valuables but abandoned the motorcycles during a chase and fled into the bush. One suspect, Abdulsalam Adam, was arrested and exhibits including a knife, expended cartridge, and broken padlock were recovered. The case has been moved to SCID Eleweran. A day earlier, July 2, Ajuwon Division Anti-Crime Team intercepted robbers at Baale Akinosi who had stolen a Toyota Camry, phones, jewellery, and other items. The suspects abandoned the vehicle during pursuit. One suspect, Israel Salako, was arrested as efforts continue to track the others and recover more property.
CP Ojajuni applauded the officers for their vigilance and professionalism, and reiterated the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, visibility patrols, and community partnership. He urged motorists to ensure proper vehicle registration and advised residents to use only designated motor parks, avoid unbranded vehicles, and share trip details with family or friends. The Commissioner also called on the public to provide timely and credible information to help prevent crime.
