The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected cult member and recovered a locally made pistol with one live cartridge during a routine stop-and-search in the Ijaiye/Ojokoro area. Police operatives intercepted a motorcycle carrying three passengers, and a search led to the discovery of the firearm on one of them. The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Yusuf Lamina Adigun.
During questioning, Adigun admitted to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity. He said he and other members of the group, who escaped, were on their way to carry out an attack before police intercepted them. He remains in custody as detectives work to track the fleeing suspects and recover more weapons linked to the group.
CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, said the Command will sustain intelligence-driven operations to clamp down on cultism and violent crime. He called on residents to stay alert and share timely, credible information with the police to help keep communities safe and secure.
