The Delta State Police Command has arrested 202 suspects during a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts in the Asaba metropolis. The operation, carried out on Saturday, July 4, 2026, was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, and followed intelligence from the State Intelligence Department. Officers stormed identified black spots, brothels, and suspected drug dens across the city.
Of the 202 arrested, 102 are male and 100 are female. They are being processed for offences ranging from running brothels to possession and sale of suspected illicit drugs and other related crimes. The Command also impounded 5 vehicles, 10 tricycles, and 10 motorcycles for traffic violations, breach of the state’s tricycle operation restrictions, and the ban on motorcycles in restricted areas.
CP Yemi Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to sustain intelligence-led operations and clamp down on criminal activities. He assured residents that police will continue to deny criminal elements room to operate, and urged the public to stay alert and provide timely, credible information to aid ongoing security efforts.
