The Ogun State Police Command has moved to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and border security with a high-level visit to the Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun I Area Command in Idiroko. Led by Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, the delegation included the Commanding Officer of 16 PMF Squadron, Area Commander Idiroko, and Commanders of the EOD and Border Patrol Units. They were received by Acting Customs Area Controller and Chairman of the Joint Border Security Committee, DC Oladapo Olukayode Afeni, and other heads of security agencies.
At an interactive session with the Joint Border Security Committee — comprising Immigration, DSS, NSCDC, NDLEA, FRSC, Forest Guards, NAQS, So-Safe Corps, Port Health, and the Permanent Secretary, Inter-Border Security Formation — CP Ojajuni commended the professionalism and cooperation across agencies. He described the existing synergy as a model worth replicating and stressed that intelligence sharing and joint operations remain critical to addressing emerging threats. The CP also noted the impact of Operation Kosaye and pledged the Police Command’s continued support for sister agencies.
Responding, DC Afeni welcomed the visit as a boost to longstanding border security collaboration and credited recent successes to unity, trust, and professionalism within the committee. He reaffirmed Customs’ mandates on border security, enforcement, and trade facilitation. Other members, including the Controller of Immigration, pledged sustained intelligence sharing and joint operations to keep the border corridor secure, peaceful, and free of crime.
