Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Ogun State Police Command have rescued the abducted Prince of Okun Owa, Prince Idris, and neutralised two members of the kidnapping gang during an intelligence-led operation. The victim was abducted on June 30, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m. when gunmen invaded his residence in Okun Owa and took him away. Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, directed the immediate deployment of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and other tactical teams to secure his release and apprehend the perpetrators.
Sustained pressure on the gang led to the victim’s safe release unharmed on July 3, 2026. Acting on credible intelligence afterwards, operatives tracked the suspects to the Agoro/Imodi axis. On sighting the police, the kidnappers opened fire. The operatives responded, neutralising two of them while others escaped with gunshot injuries. Items recovered from the scene include one AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine, two mobile phones, a bag suspected to contain ransom, and other incriminating exhibits. The bodies have been deposited at a government morgue for autopsy as efforts continue to arrest fleeing suspects.
CP Ojajuni commended the courage and professionalism of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and tactical teams, and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks across the state.
