The National President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Chief (Mrs.) Olufunmilola Disu, has called on women to take advantage of skills training and emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence, to drive economic empowerment and self-reliance.
Mrs. Disu made the call during a visit to the POWA Skill Acquisition Centre at Dei-Dei Barracks, Abuja, where she toured departments including Adult Education, Baking and Confectionery, Tailoring, Hairdressing, and ICT. She commended the trainees and instructors for their commitment and stressed that vocational skills and digital literacy are vital tools for financial independence in today’s economy. She also encouraged participants to explore AI and other digital tools, describing them as essential for boosting productivity, creativity, and innovation in modern businesses.
During discussions with the centre’s management, Mrs. Disu pledged support for staff welfare and for upgrades to facilities to create a more conducive learning environment. She said empowering women with practical skills and access to technology remains central to POWA’s vision of building stronger families and resilient communities within the police ecosystem, and reaffirmed the association’s commitment to education, innovation, and sustainable economic empowerment.
