The General Officer Commanding, 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Babalola, has lauded the Nigerian Army Intelligence School, NAIS, Tego Barracks Apapa, for sustaining high training standards and urged students to remain disciplined, professional and combat-ready.
Speaking on Thursday, 6 August 2026 during the Second Quarter Courses’ Final Exercise codenamed Exercise DESERT CHASE and Exercise SPIDER WEB, the GOC said the drills were designed to deepen knowledge of Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Insurgency Operations and to test the practical application of intelligence in support of military operations. He noted that the exercise reflects the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu’s vision of building a more professional, adaptable, combat-ready and resilient Nigerian Army capable of operating effectively in a joint and multi-agency environment.
Major General Babalola commended the Commandant, Brigadier General David Umaru, and the directing staff for their commitment to producing competent intelligence personnel. He stressed that intelligence remains a critical enabler of operational success and urged students to stay focused on excellence. The event was attended by Brigadier General John Bulus of the Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration and Col George Ukeachu (Rtd), and ended with the signing of the Visitors’ Book and a group photograph.
