The Ogun State Police Command says it has rescued seven kidnapped victims, neutralized three suspected kidnappers and arrested 38 suspects in intelligence-led operations across the state. Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, said the arrests include 23 foreign nationals linked to an alleged Ponzi/visa scam, 12 suspected cultists, one suspected armed robber and a suspected fraudster who posed as a clergyman. Firearms, ammunition, vehicles, motorcycles and other exhibits were also recovered.
The major breakthrough came on 3rd August, 2026 when the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, working with the DSS, Army and other agencies, rescued seven victims abducted on 29th July along Paraga Street, Ipara. Aerial support from a Police helicopter, deployed after Governor Dapo Abiodun’s request to the IGP, helped locate the victims. One victim was treated for a gunshot injury at the Police Hospital.
On 6th August, operatives stormed a hideout along the Sagamu-Abeokuta Expressway where three suspected kidnappers were neutralized in a gunfight. Recovered items include one AK-47 rifle, an empty magazine, four phones and ₦2.3 million. In other operations, Itele Division arrested a suspected armed robber with a locally made pistol; Atan-Ota Division raided a residence and arrested 23 foreign nationals over alleged Ponzi/visa fraud, with 21 handed to Immigration; and Idi Oke Division foiled a cult gathering, arresting 12 suspects and recovering weapons, charms, 8 motorcycles and 2 vehicles.
Other recoveries include a submachine gun with 75 rounds found in Sakura, a stolen Hilux and tricycle recovered in Owode-Egba, an abandoned motorcycle in Sagamu, and the arrest of a suspected serial fraudster in Obantoko who allegedly defrauded 18 people of about ₦2.5m under the guise of a Jerusalem pilgrimage.
CP Ojajuni commended the governor, the DSS, Army and other security agencies for collaboration, and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive, intelligence-led policing.
