The Anti-Robbery Team of the Ogun State Police Command has arrested two men, Adeyinka Onakomaya, 46, and Olayiwola Kehinde, 48, over alleged armed robbery, carjacking and unlawful possession of firearms. The operation, linked to the April 2026 recovery of a stolen red Toyota Matrix, also yielded three locally made pistols and 18 live cartridges, striking a major blow against a syndicate operating across Ogun.
According to the Command, the arrests followed sustained intelligence work after the initial vehicle recovery. Operatives tracked the suspects to separate hideouts in Babaode area along Idiroko Road, Ota, and in the Command area of Lagos State. Preliminary investigations showed the duo, with other gang members, orchestrated the April robbery and carried out a series of violent vehicle snatchings in Ota, Iju, Babaode and Atan. Both suspects have confessed and are assisting detectives, while manhunt efforts continue for other fleeing members.
CP Bode Ojajuni, Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, lauded the operatives for their tenacity and follow-through. He said the recovery of firearms and arrest of key suspects reflect the Command’s determination to conclude every criminal case. The CP assured residents that the Command will continue to dismantle armed robbery networks, and urged the public to report suspicious activities through Gateway Shield toll-free 0800 000 9111 or emergency lines 09164859299, 09154293464.
