OGUN — Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command, Ijebu-Igbo Division, have arrested a 20-year-old man over the alleged gang-rape of a 19-year-old girl in the Oke Sopen area of Ijebu-Igbo, while a manhunt is ongoing for a second suspect. The arrest followed a formal report lodged by the victim’s mother on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, regarding an incident that occurred on August 30, 2026 at their residence in Odo Idi Scale, Oke Sopen.

Police said officers immediately secured the scene to gather evidence and escorted the survivor to the General Hospital for medical examination and care in line with standard procedure. The suspect, identified as Ayomide Kamula, 20, is in custody and being interrogated. Efforts have been intensified to track down the fleeing accomplice, Boye Balogun. The case is being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, condemned the act and reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance policy on sexual and gender-based violence. He assured the victim’s family and the public that a thorough investigation is underway and that the fleeing suspect will be apprehended to face the law.
