Three persons have been arraigned before the Ago-Iwoye Magistrate Court over alleged obstruction and assault of police officers in Ago-Iwoye.

The defendants, Alaba Mulika, 51, Alawode Iyanu, 21, and Temitope Saliu, 29, were arrested after police said they blocked and attacked officers who had intercepted an unregistered Toyota Camry on September 29 at Fibigbade Street.

According to police, a Toyota Highlander with registration JJJ 215 JV blocked the patrol team at Abobi Street while conveying the Camry to the station, leading to assault on Insp Abolarinwa Wasiu and Cpl Olubamiro Adeniyi, an incident captured in viral videos.

They were charged on five counts bordering on conspiracy, obstruction, serious assault and conduct likely to cause breach of peace. The court granted each ₦500,000 bail with sureties, but they were remanded at Ijebu-Ode Correctional Centre for failing to meet the conditions. The case was adjourned to October 12, 2026.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, said the Command will continue to protect officers on lawful duty and urged the public to use lawful channels for complaints rather than confront officers.
