The AIG in charge of FCID Annex, Alagbon, Lagos, Simeon Akpanudom, has cautioned officers against extortion, harassment, torture and arrest by proxy, stressing professionalism and respect for human rights.
At a general lecture on Monday, October 26, the AIG decried complaints of unprofessional conduct, warning it damages the image of the Force. He ordered proper documentation of firearms, possession of valid ID cards, compliance with the Social Media Policy and restraint in public statements during the election period. He emphasized that detainees must be treated with dignity, medical complaints handled promptly, and belongings not required as exhibits returned.
Akpanudom charged IPOs to conduct intelligence-led, evidence-based investigations, clearly state offences in invitation letters and avoid proxy arrests. He disclosed ongoing training in criminal profiling and fingerprint identification to boost investigative capacity, warned against unauthorized roadblocks, and tasked team leaders to ensure discipline and lawful operations.
