Why Chief Philip Agbese is fast becoming the face of the issue-based campaign
Chief Philip Agbese has already written his name in stars as an astute philanthropist and dogged human rights activist. He has now gone further to write it on the moon as a 21st-century cosmopolitan and egalitarian politician with his pristine style of politicking.
In the past few days, the Nigerian audiovisual media has been abuzz with brilliant analyses from High Chief Agbese, a UK-trained lawyer and security expert.
Okanga, as he is fondly called, has been junketing between the major television houses in the country viz Arise TV, NTA and AIT, enlightening citizens on electioneering safety tips.
Interestingly, Chief Philip Agbese who is the All Progressives Congress (APC) Reps Candidate for Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency of Benue State in the 2023 general elections, has not only adopted an issue-based strategy for his campaign but has also taken it upon himself to lead a national enlightenment crusade on it.

While featuring on AIT’s Security Scope, recently, Chief Agbese discussed exhaustively general security issues across the nation and enlightened Nigerians on the need to be more vigilant in the face of the current insecurity in the country, especially during the electioneering period.
During his recent outing on NTA, Okanga harped on the imperatives of issue-based campaigns. Earlier on Arise TV, Chief Agbese stressed the need for security consciousness for political actors, party candidates and supporters as campaigns begin this week.
The civility and humaneness High Chief Agbese has shown in his political approach is worthy of commendation as it juxtaposes the vulgarism most Nigerian politicians are known for. This made me write an article entitled Philip Agbese And His Brand Of Politics Worthy Of Emulation a few months back.
In the said article, I pointed out that one of Agbese’s biggest campaigners has been his track record. His philanthropic investments and humanitarian works are what endeared him to his constituents, so much so that his supporters are across party lines.
These approaches have long distinguished him and from records, he had a profound cumulative impact on the people of Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency of Benue State.
When a person sets a good precedent before aspiring for a political office, the urge of resorting to self-ridicule, shenanigans, virulent vituperations, gimmicks and lies (unrealistic campaign promises) to gain popularity will be easily defeated.
Nigerian politicians can learn a thing from that.
It’s an onus on all of us (the people of Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo, otherwise known as Enone) to grab this golden opportunity; Okanga Philip Agbese by voting for the broom party in 2023.
