Following the annulment of the party’s governorship primary, which resulted in Sen. Aishatu Binani’s selection as the party’s candidate for governor, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa has encouraged its followers to maintain calm.
The party said that it had “mixed feelings” after receiving the ruling that declared the governorship primary invalid.
This was said at a news conference held on Saturday in Yola by the state’s APC secretary, Dr. Raymond Chidama.

He stated that the party had now filed an appeal against the ruling, stating that “we opposed to the court’s position for refusing to mandate the conduct of a new primary election.”
Adding that “all avenues of justice would be used by the party to achieve equity and fairness via the process of appeal,” he advised party members and the governorship candidate to maintain their composure.
I want to reassure our members that our party will unquestionably take part in the governorship race in 2023, he said.
The Secretary expressed confidence that the APC would unseat the state’s incumbent PDP.
The APC governorship primary in the state was declared invalid on Friday, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola.
Abdulaziz Anka, the trial judge, declared that the exercise was against party rules and the 2022 Electoral Act.

The court also ruled that Binani was not authorized to run for governor and that the party would not be fielding a candidate in the state’s governorship election in 2023.
Binani won the May 26 primary after receiving 430 votes to defeat Nuhu Ribadu, who received 288 votes, who was her closest rival.
