LAGOS — The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Olohundare Jimoh, has urged graduating officers of the Nigerian Armed Forces to convert their entrepreneurship training into businesses that create jobs and grow the economy. Speaking as Special Guest of Honour at the graduation of Senior and Mid-Level Officers Entrepreneurship and Management Course 19/2026 at the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre, NAFRC, Oshodi, on Friday, he said entrepreneurship is no longer optional for personnel approaching retirement but a necessity amid economic realities and global competition.

The course, organised by NAFRC in collaboration with the Empretec Nigeria Foundation, had commissioned officers from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Defence Intelligence Agency, Defence Space Administration and NAFRC who are due for retirement. Jimoh said participants were exposed to agriculture, food processing, packaging, business management and local and international study tours to bridge classroom learning and real-world practice. He charged them to become ambassadors of peace and development by establishing enterprises that empower youths, reduce unemployment and stimulate local economies, and commended NAFRC and Empretec for sustaining a programme that has produced employers, industrialists and community leaders.

NAFRC Commandant, AVM Nnaemeka Ignatius Ilo, said the officers are now better positioned to excel in enterprise development and urged them to be good ambassadors of the centre. He expressed hope that the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies would join the programme to deepen inter-agency harmony. Empretec Nigeria Country Director, Mrs. Onari Duke, said the cohort entered as officers in uniform and left as “architects of enterprise,” noting this was the first set to visit Cormat’s operational farm and receive mentorship from a retired AVM. She charged them to build businesses with the same integrity and discipline from military service, with Empretec’s support continuing beyond the training.
