The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) Federal Polytechnic Offa, Chapter has again raised alarm over the continuous delay tactics employed by the Federal government in appointing a substantive Rector for the Polytechnic.
The Chairman of the Polytechnic Lecturers, Moses Atilola who raised the concern during a press briefing at the Mini campus of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, noted that the polytechnic is currently facing enormous challenges that only the appointment of a substantive Rector can rectify.
The Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State was established in 1992 during the administration of former president, Ibrahim Babangida, the polytechnic offers National Diploma and Higher National Diploma courses at undergraduate levels but all seems not to be well with the polytechnic at the moment as members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) said the continuous foot-dragging manner of the federal government in appointing a substantive Rector for the polytechnic has affected the expected progress of the institution.
The Academic Staff of the Polytechnic also insists that if the issue is not addressed as a matter of urgency it could result into a full-blown crisis.
The Polytechnic lecturers however appealed to president Mohammadu Buhari to appoint a substantive Rector for the smooth running of the institution in order to guarantee peaceful coexistence of the stakeholders.
