Despite the agitation of Governor Wike and his political supporters, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, PDP national chairman, would not resign. After the Wike camp withdrew from Atiku’s campaign, the PDP national chairman made his decision known through his media assistant, Simon Imobo-Tswam. Wike and his allies had stated they would only re-join Atiku’s campaign if Ayu resigns as the PDP national chairman.

Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP’s national chairman, has pleaded with Governor Nyesom Wike and his friends to rejoin the party’s presidential campaign committee for the sake of harmony. Following the Wike campaign’s withdrawal due to Ayu’s refusal to resign, Ayu spoke through his Special Assistant (Media), Simon Imobo-Tswam.
